PowerSchool Unified Classroom FAQs
Why are we switching to PowerSchool?
Our previous Student Information System, Maplewood ConnectEd has been discontinued, and we were forced to move platforms. When comparing the different options, we found that PowerSchool has become the industry leader in providing integrated school software solutions. We saw an opportunity to combine a few of our platforms into one platform, to streamline our processes and provide a better student and parent experience.
What aren't we using Google Classroom?
Unified Classroom provides more features than Google Classroom, on both the student/parent facing interface and the teacher/administrator interface. It integrates better with our gradebook. It's also much more integrated into our student database, allowing us to reduce redundant processes internally.
Why aren't we using myGCA?
PowerSchool is our new central database for all student and family information, and has the ability to collect this information through its forms module. We want to reduce the number of places a parent needs to go to update their information, so we've decided to discontinue its use at this time.
How do I report an absence?
You can still report absences through the phone line, GCA app, website, and now through PowerSchool if you choose.
Can I see grades on PowerSchool Unified Classroom?
Yes, for Junior High, you'll be able to see grades, similarly to ConnectEd.
Do my student and I get a log-in?
What can I do in PowerSchool Unified Classroom?
You'll have the ability to check on your students' academic progress, check in with your students' teacher(s) and complete school forms.
When do I get account information?
We will be releasing account information on September 8th, along with step-by-step instructions of how to register online.
As we continue through the school year, we will add more questions and answers to this area.
