"Dear Homes of Hope team, we are from Guerrero and arrived in Tijuana two years ago. We started by renting a house, but unfortunately, we were asked to leave. A cousin told us about some land, and we had the opportunity to get one. We built a wooden house with a tarp roof, arriving with nothing. For four months, we had no electricity or water. Our son got sick often, but thanks to God, we’ve been able to move forward—some good days, some bad. During the first few months, we didn’t even have enough to eat, but little by little our situation has improved. However, we still haven’t been able to build a proper home for our children. That’s why we turn to you, hoping to improve our quality of life. I thank God for you and for your attention."

"Dear Homes of Hope team, when I think about our family story, I feel deeply moved and grateful for everything we've been through and how our lives have changed since becoming parents. Almost 10 years ago, we decided to start a life together—we were very young, but we knew doing what was best for both of us was the right path. We started working from a young age since we don’t come from families with many opportunities. Although we both studied, finishing school has been difficult due to our jobs. We lived for two years in Oaxaca, renting in different places, with long, hard, and poorly paid workdays. Two years ago, my mother-in-law passed away, largely because we couldn’t afford her medication, which left us very discouraged. At that time, we talked to an aunt living in Tijuana who encouraged us to move there for a better chance at building a future. We bought bus tickets and came. Right away we found work—me in a hardware store and my partner in a pharmacy. Things were going well until the pandemic hit. Later, I began working as a delivery person for a pharmacy. We had hoped to return to Oaxaca, but instead, we decided to buy land in Tijuana. We saved for months and looked for the best option. These years haven't been easy, but our love has grown stronger. I thank God for giving me such a loving partner—we've learned to turn obstacles into life lessons. In June 2023, our lives changed when we received the blessing of our baby. We found out about the pregnancy during a threatened miscarriage. We're not religious, but we always pray to God. The birth was difficult, and my partner lost a lot of blood, but now our lives are full of joy, laughter, and love—along with sleepless nights and exhaustion. It's a mix of emotions. When thinking about returning to work, we decided she would stay home to avoid leaving the baby with strangers in daycare. She noticed how tired I was from working double shifts and tried selling desserts at the street market, but it was very difficult. We are a team—we encourage each other. Now she works at a call center, and we take turns with shifts, so we hardly see each other, but we find ways to manage. A neighbor told us about “Casas de Esperanza.” We dream of a place where we can create memories with our daughter—a true home. Right now, we feel overwhelmed by all the expenses. Thank you for your time, and I send you our gratitude and respect."

"Dear Homes of Hope team, I respectfully request your support in obtaining a dignified home for my children and me, as I currently do not have the financial means to achieve it. I am a single mother and recently became a widow—my husband passed away not long ago, and with his loss, I lost the main source of income for our family. I am also pregnant, and due to my condition, I dedicate myself to selling goods at the local street market near our home so that I can stay close and be available when my children go to and return from school. The place where we live is not a finished house—the roof and walls leak when it rains, and it gets very cold because it is not properly insulated. I thank you in advance for taking the time to listen to my story."

"Dear Homes of Hope team, I want to explain why I long to have a Casita de Esperanza. As a child, I didn’t have a home with a mother and father—I was raised by my grandparents. My childhood was not a happy one; I suffered many abuses. All I ever wanted was to be with my parents, but they didn’t want me, so I ran away and went to live with another family. I was 12 years old and working to try to buy a house, but in that home they tried to abuse me. At 14, I went back to look for my parents, but they still didn’t want me, so I started working as a mechanic. Later, my parents arranged for me to live with a man 26 years older than me. I had my children and kept working because I dreamed of having a home. At 22, I moved out to live alone with my kids—I rented. When the oldest four grew up, we decided to try our luck in Tijuana. We worked day and night to buy our land. We were happy, but then I had an accident and couldn’t work anymore. My son now takes care of us, and I sell snacks. On top of that, my husband fell and broke his hand, and he also hasn’t been able to find work. We still have five children under our care, and we haven’t been able to build a proper home. I dream of having one so we don’t have to endure the cold anymore. I pray to God with all my heart for this blessing. I believe God placed you in my path, and I thank you with all my heart."

"Dear Homes of Hope team, we respectfully request your support, as we do not have the financial resources to build a dignified home for our baby. We currently rely on a minimum wage income to cover all of our family’s expenses, which makes it impossible to begin construction. For now, we are living with my in-laws in a very small space, which is difficult for our growing family. From the bottom of our hearts, we sincerely thank you for your consideration and support."
