Even after an early start, our students showed enthusiasm and excitement over the adventure to come. We were met with lots of lovely comments from strangers in the airport all sharing their support and wonder about what we were heading out to do. The flight was a bit bumpy, but didn't hamper the mood. We arrived to beautiful, warm weather in San Diego earlier than expected, and headed straight to Chik-fil-A and In-n-Out Burger. I've learned we have LOTS of burger enthusiasts, and more than one T-shirt was purchased and proudly displayed. A lovely employee at In-n-Out came around to the kids with hats and stickers (note the pictures). Filled with food, we made our way to the border. The crossing was incredibly smooth, for which we were very thankful! Finally, we arrived at the YWAM base mid afternoon and were greeted by the amazing staff. More new T-shirts in hand, along with room keys, the kids had some time to settle in their rooms before hitting the soccer field. After a delicious pasta and meatball dinner, the soccer field was filled once again. A rousing game of football came about with a group of the kids against another group of students staying at the base. The field was full! We are now in chapel in the Onion. The worship was beautiful and the wisdom being shared is opening up hearts. We're now breaking into Ministry Groups and doing some fun bonding exercises. We also have videos of the "team cheers" and their new team names - see the second post! We have also added our final family to our earlier post. I have no doubt that we will sleep well tonight!
Thank you for your prayers! More pics to come, but here's a start from today.
